Yep, that's right! The newspapers can report a minor member of the royal family, but that's all. Meanwhile, Australia is free to publish full details, google "royal family blackmail au". The same happened with the Peter Wright case a few years back. The government tried to ban his memoirs (he was in MI5/6) but they were published online in Australia for all to read.

Mind you, somehow China manages to filter out any embarrassing revelations on the net about massacres of its citizens!
