Right with ya mate.
Apparently mounting subs behind plexiglass gives it an added bassy drone (I mean directly behind so they're touching - would look odd anywhere but a car though) You can also buy speakers like this, can't remember what they're called but it's just like a rectangular strip that vibrates the plexiglass.

surely the plexiglass would shatter. if it was thick enough to withstand that sort of vibration, surely it would vibrate enough to generate much noise. or at least, at loud volume it would break.
i suppose if it does vibrate at the same speed as the speaker, surely it wouldnt move as much air as a speaker cone, therefore making less noise?? ive never heard anything like that with the rectangular speakers with the built in plexi glass, ill have a look at it MCTW |

I see what you mean now.. I can't see how it would work with a sub behind it. Unless there was a porthole to allow airflow...
There is definatly the rectangular plexi glass thing though. It was on Pimp My Ride last night or night before.

dont get me wrong, it would work, just not fantastically. a bass port would help to amplify the sound a bit i guess. ive had a look on google, cant find those speakers with the plexi glass, ill have a look at pimp my ride episodes.

i can clear this up
you can only get 2 types of bass box... sealed or ported.. the perspex thing ford is on about is called ported because its a box with 2 subs inside and a perspex window to see them..had oen before they give long tone bass notes..good if you want to be herd miles away![]() but the bass note is not as thumpy as a sealed
